EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND RESOURCES

If you believe your child or adolescent is suffering from mental illness — there is help available.

A multitude of resources and information is available for families with a child or adolescent suffering from mental illness. These resources can be accessed online, through the public school system, or your medical caregiver.
If this is an emergency situation CALL 9-1-1 immediately.

Dr. Carlos Barrios understands your concern and is currently building a comprehensive resource library to assist families navigating the vast amount of information available. This library will become available online in the near future. Please check back.

One resource currently available is the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). The mission of AACAP is to promote the healthy development of children, adolescents, and families through advocacy, education, and research, and to meet the professional needs of child and adolescent psychiatrists throughout their careers.

Links to resilience based metabolic and physical techniques

These techniques offer both physical work methods and metabolic nutritional means of not only decreasing anxiety and stress in a sustainable manner but also increasing stamina and mental toughness.

Meditation is included since in fact it does re-stabilize the body and harmonize the mind/body connection; with a myriad of anti-inflammatory benefits such as significantly decreasing lactic acid which is one of stress and anxiety favorite fuels.
